Our Purpose
Our purpose is to increase understanding of the cultures that shape nations and to document how societies transmit language, knowledge, institutions, heritage and identity across generations.
Understanding Without Uniformity
We believe international understanding does not require cultural uniformity. People can learn from other societies while maintaining their own languages, traditions and civic institutions. We compare different national models without assuming that one formula applies everywhere.
Our Values
We value primary sources, transparent data, qualified contributors and respectful disagreement. We distinguish culture from political propaganda, demographic measurement from demographic alarmism, and institutional partnership from editorial control.
Long-term Objective
To build a searchable global archive of cultures, national policies, contributors and demographic change.
